PHILOLOGY (BA)

A graduate of the faculty has knowledge, skills and social competences in the field of linguistics, literary and cultural studies and the history of countries of a selected language area. He/she has language skills in the fields of phonetics, writing, reading, conversation and structures, knows grammar of the chosen language. He or she also has basic knowledge related to the translation techniques and processes as well as basic knowledge of the methodology of teaching a given foreign language.

Specializations:

  • English Philology
    A graduate has the knowledge of linguistics, literary and cultural studies and the history of English-speaking countries; has language skills in the field of phonetics, writing, reading, conversation and structures, knows the grammar of the chosen language; a graduate has basic knowledge related to translation techniques as well as of teaching methodology of a given foreign language.
  • German Philology
    A graduate has the knowledge of German language in all forms (speaking, listening, writing, reading) and language functions at a level similar to the so-called "Native language user"; knows German history, culture and literature; demonstrates knowledge of life of German-speaking countries; efficiently uses modern means of information exchange and multimedia techniques.
  • Spanish Philology
    A graduate has the knowledge of Spanish language in all forms (speaking, listening, writing, reading) and language functions at a level similar to the so-called "Native language user"; knows the history, culture and Spanish literature; demonstrates the knowledge of the life of Spanish language area; efficiently uses modern means of information transfer, knows the issues of social communication, public relations and manners of personal and social resources management.
  • Russian Philology
    A graduate has the knowledge of Russian language in all forms (speaking, listening, writing, reading) and language functions at a level similar to the so-called "Native language user"; knows Russian history, culture and literature; demonstrates knowledge of life of Russian-speaking countries; efficiently uses modern means of information exchange and multimedia techniques.

LAW (MA Full-time and part-time studies, 5-year long-cycle studies)
Legal studies last five years with the obtainment of the Master's degree in Law at the end of the cycle and give the opportunity to develop within selected application. The graduate of Law has general knowledge of law sciences, legaltheory and philosophy as well as basic knowledge in the field of social sciences. He or she is also acquainted with the methodological and historical-legal issues. A graduate, thanks to in-depth knowledge of particular legal disciplines (ie criminal law, civil law, administrative, labor, commercial, tax and public finances law) understands and applies legal acts, knows regulations defining the legal status of an individual according to the state, the EU and international law. 

ADMINISTRATION (BA and MA)
The graduate has advanced knowledge in the field of administrative law, budgeting, management and functioning of institutions in Poland and in the European Union. He/she is prepared to work in managerial, advisory and expert positions as well as in the civil service, central and local government administration, administrative services of businesses, NGOs, administration of various private, cultural institutions, as well as in institutions and enterprises cooperating with members of the EU and their organs.

Specializations:

  • Public Administration
    A graduate of this specialization demonstrates the knowledge of issues related to administrative, tax and criminal law, knows modern administration tools, is able to properly analyze and deal with administrative matters and their course of proceedings.
  • Local Government
    A graduate has in-depth knowledge of organizational structures of public administration, tasks of local government units, municipal and territorial management; knows issues related to the organization and functioning of local government, enforcement proceedings, strategy, tax and local fees systems, management of property of the local government and the establishment of local law.
  • Economic Administration
    A graduate of this specialization is able to forecast the course of administrative matters using standard legal and administrative procedures; has the skills needed to manage people and lead the business talks with stakeholders; a graduate is fully familiar with commercial law in administration, industrial property and accounting, knows international economic relations and European economic institutions.
  • Public Safety
    A graduate, in addition to the knowledge of issues related directly to public safety, has extensive knowledge in the field of executive criminal law, legal offenses and police law; knows the regulations of the activities of public order services; has the knowledge, skills and social competences in the field of security in general communication and transport.
  • Administration in the Health Services
    A graduate of this specialization has the knowledge, skills and social competences in the field of organization and functioning of health care institutions, social security systems and principles of financing health services; student is familiar with the legal aspects of the functioning of health care and knows the principles of keeping medical records, as well as the methods of measuring and assessing the state of health.
  • Administration in the Justice System
    A graduate has the knowledge, skills and social competences in the field of justice and prosecution. This knowledge is extended to include the National Court Register, register of pledges, land and mortgage registers and the legal status of a court official. The graduate has the skill of law application, court proceedings and mediation.
  • Administration and Law in Business
    Graduates have in-depth knowledge, skills and social competence in the field of administrative law, finance, commercial law, labor law, as well as civil law in relation to the business sector. The specialty prepares students for administrative and legal work supporting the management of company funds.
  • E-Goverment and Modern Forms of Administration
    A graduate has in-depth knowledge, skills and social competences in using modern information and communication technology tools, including replacing the paper flow of information with the electronic one. He or she is able to act at the highest level of communication between the city hall and the residents with the complexity of services provided by offices using electronic means.
  • Organization and Management in Administration
    A graduate of this specialization has the knowledge, skills and social competences in the field of organization and management in public and private administration; can practically manage personal and social competences; communicate and lead the dialogue with administration stakeholders.
  • European Administration
    A graduate has the knowledge of the functioning of public administration in the European Union; demonstrates the knowledge of participation of the national administration in the decision-making process in the EU and implementation of EU legislation at the national level.
  • Resocialization Policy
    A graduate has the knowledge of legal aspects of the functioning of penitentiary and post-penitentiary assistance in Poland and in the world; demonstrates the knowledge of conducting the analysis of the needs of prisoners and their families after leaving the penitentiary unit.

ECONOMICS (BA and MA)

The graduate of this faculty uses advanced analytical methods to study economic phenomena and processes and model their behaviour on a micro- and macroeconomic scale in the conditions of an open-market economy and international competition. He or she is able to develop projects and provide consulting services, understands the importance of international business transactions, uses theoretical concepts to characterize international market and its functioning as well as the global economy's.

  • Managerial
    A graduate has comprehensive economic knowledge and in-depth knowledge of small and medium enterprises management, enterprise competitiveness, human resources management, manager's psychology; prepared to make the right decisions based on a professional analysis of macro- and microeconomic factors shaping the market position of an economic entity.
  • Psychology in Business
    A graduate of this specialization has the knowledge in the field of general and social psychology, psychological aspects of human management, communication and conflict resolution in organization; assesses the determinants of human functioning in various organizational structures; effectively communicates and solves conflicts in a team.
  • Law in Business
    Graduates have in-depth knowledge, skills and social competence in the field of administrative law, finance, commercial law, labor law, as well as civil law in relation to the business sector. The specialty prepares students for administrative and legal work supporting the management of company funds.
  • Business Accounting and Finance
    A graduate is familiar with the basic economic issues and the specialized ones in the field of finance and accounting; prepares financial statements and bills and effectively manages finances.
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Management
    A graduate demonstrates the knowledge of principles of the functioning of logistic systems in terms of theory, design and business practice; knows the issues of quality management in logistics and ecologistics.

    A graduate of this specialization has the knowledge, skills and social competences in the field of organization and management in public and private administration; can practically manage personal and social competences; can effectively communicate and lead the dialogue with administration stakeholders.

    A graduate demonstrates the knowledge of economics, production and services as well as quality management; can manage the finances of the company, human resources, financial, material and non-material resources; knows the subjects of public relations, marketing, communication and logistics.
  • Marketing and Public Relations in Business
    A graduate is equipped with knowledge on how to build and implement communication strategies and carry out promotional activities using marketing research, advertising as well as public relations tools and techniques; can apply the principles of creating a positive image of the company through internal communication, media relations, sponsoring and lobbying.
  • HR Management and Personal Consulting
    A graduate is equipped with the knowledge of labor law, labor market, employment, social policy and personal consulting; uses methods and instruments of human resources management and has the knowledge of personnel policy issues.

    A graduate is equipped with the knowledge of international marketing, foreign trade and international markets; can analyze the international environment of the organization and use various techniques of selling goods on foreign markets.

PEDAGOGY (BA and MA)

A graduate of the faculty has specialistic skills and competences necessary to use the acquired knowledge in diagnosing, designing, organizing, implementing and evaluating pedagogical actions (upbringing, education, care, advisory, cultural activity, assistance and therapy) in relation to groups and individuals, as well as to conduct basic scientific research. He or she is able to run a business in the field of education and consulting services.

    A graduate of this specialization knows contemporary problems of pedagogy and related social issues; can use pedagogical research and theories of pedagogical interactions in practice.

    A graduate of this specialization has broad knowledge of gerontology, gerontological care and prevention; has the ability to use selected elements of art therapy and develop emancipatory competences.

    A graduate knows theories of aesthetic education and aesthetics of pedagogy, can plan and organize artistic activities and implement elements of creative pedagogy.
  • Pedagogy of Culture and Management of Cultural Institutions
    A graduate knows the value of culture for various social environments, can diagnose the needs and aspirations in the reception of culture; can define the concept of "culture" and understands its meaning for individuals, groups, institutions or societies; able to plan and organize cultural activities and manage leisure time through environment animation.
  • Health education and recreation pedagogy with elements of biological regeneration
    A graduate of this specialization has broad knowledge of the methodology of health education, sexual education and health promotion; uses the marketing and management tools in sport, knows trends in physical culture and biological regeneration.
  • Professional Guidance in Career Planning with Elements of Entrepreneurship
    A graduate of this specialization has wide knowledge in the field of career and education career planning as well as in career guidance methodology; can apply theories of psychology in business and coaching.
  • Child care and early development support
    A graduate of this specialization knows the basics of developmental psychology of children, clinical psychology and pediatric propaedeutics; has the ability to diagnose, conduct therapies and individual educational and therapeutic programs

    A graduate of this specialization knows the essence and mechanisms of social inclusion; has the knowledge of social exclusion areas, educational counseling, interpersonal communication and inclusive activities planning.

    A graduate of this specialization has the ability to recognize the problems of the human psyche in relation to teaching and upbringing processes; knows issues related to emotions, cognitive processes and psychological aspects of human behavior, including social communication with emphasis on regularity and abnormalities of human functioning.

    A graduate of this specialization has broad knowledge of social sciences and humanities, selected pedagogical sub-disciplines; able to use the knowledge of care and upbringing of children during their life; can use elements of therapy through art and lead animation activities.
  • Pre-school and early school education (teaching)
    A graduate of this specialization has in-depth pedagogical, philosophical, sociological and psychological knowledge; equipped with the competences necessary to work with pre-school and early-school age children in various types of institutions; has the knowledge of running businesses (nurseries, kindergartens, pre-school points).

The graduate knows the rules of the financial system, the basics of economics, accounting, tax system, legal and formal basis for the functioning of the accounting and finance system. He/she has the knowledge of the functioning of domestic and foreign financial markets and can use methods and tools in the field of economics, finance and accounting.

SOCIAL WORK (BA)

The graduate has knowledge in the fields of sociology, psychology, pedagogy and specialistic knowledge of social policy and work, educational counseling, family and professional guidance. He or she is able to solve problems in areas of social reality in which professional help is needed, able to diagnose the situation and phenomena that constitute the cause of the difficult situation of individuals, groups and local communities. The graduate knows the methods, techniques and means of social intervention and evaluation of actions taken to solve the given problems.

GEODESY AND CARTOGRAPHY (3,5-year engineer cycle)

A graduate of the faculty is a specialist in the field that concerns the determination of the location of objects and their presentation on maps. The labor market is in high demand for graduates of this field. Skills acquired during the course enable the graduate to perform geodetic works for the construction, environmental engineering and spatial management. He is well prepared to acquire qualifications in the field of real estate valuation and trading.

CONSTRUCTION (3,5-year engineer cycle and 1,5-year MA en)

A graduate of Construction (construction engineer) has a general construction education and comprehensive knowledge and skills in the field of general energy-saving construction and issues related to the revitalization of buildings. The graduate can undertake work in construction, technical supervision, prefabrication plants, project agencies, and local government administration. He/she is also prepared for running his/her own business.

  • Energy-Efficient Construction
    A graduate knows the issues of energy-saving construction, necessary elements (modern technologies, materials and equipment) ensuring the minimum heat escape from the building; able to solve engineering and interdisciplinary problems related to energy-saving construction, thermal renovation of buildings, renewable energy, recirculation, recuperation and others to minimize heat losses and create zero-energy and passive facilities.
  • Revitalization of Buildings
    A graduate of this specialization has well-established knowledge of general construction; knows the role of individual elements in the building, materials from which they can be made and their contribution to the load endurance, destructive factors (mechanical, physical and chemical) that may affect the building during its exploitation. Based on the local vision a graduate can determine the technical condition of the object and develop a comprehensive algorithm for renovation, choose materials and methods for performing these works.
  • General Construction
    A graduate of this specialization has particularly developed knowledge in the field of industrial, residential and municipal construction, especially in the field of design, supervision and management of construction processes as well as maintenance, operation and restoration of construction resources; prepared for the implementation of technological and organizational innovations.
  • Technology and Organization of Construction
    A graduate of this specialization has well-established knowledge and skills in the field of planning and management of construction projects, economics and management, knowledge of economics of construction processes, which gives a good basis for modern management of construction sector companies. The graduate can design and implement modern technologies and organizational innovations.
  • Road Construction
    A graduate has well-established knowledge of construction, operation and design of roads, streets, communication nodes, knows the rules of their operation and maintenance; prepared to supervise and manage construction works; has the knowledge in the field of engineering and road traffic safety as well as in the field of materials and technologies for the construction and maintenance of road facilities; has required skills in the field of design and construction of the road network and its operation.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES (3,5-year engineer cycle)

The graduate of the faculty has comprehensive knowledge and skills in the field of modern computer systems and knows how to work in programming teams. The combination of IT with management knowledge allows him/her to work more efficiently with specialists in the field of business and marketing, as well as with all kinds of analyses of business processes, strategic planning, control and management of organizations in the conditions of a market economy. As a part of the studies, specialistic English for IT professionals is implemented.

  • Tele-informatics
    A graduate of this specialization is prepared to work on positions that require knowledge of designing and managing ICT networks, administration of dispersed operating systems, configuration of network devices and IT systems security management. The IT engineer of this specialization has practical skills related to the operation and configuration of ICT networks thanks to the training at Cisco Academy operating at KPU.
  • Computer Graphics
    A graduate has the knowledge and skills in creating graphic solutions and using multimedia techniques with IT packages and tools provided by the leaders in the computer graphics industry; can prepare an internet application using illustrations, animations and video sequences; knows the methods of creating leaflets, folders, logos, advertising banners for websites, web layouts.
  • Internet Technologies
    A graduate has in-depth knowledge of issues related to the creation of efficient applications that use Internet technologies, with particular focus on Microsoft solutions. IT engineer of this specialization can create, use and integrate technologies related to network services, websites and internet applications.
  • IT in financial Services
    A graduate of this specialization is able to use IT tools to design, create and develop applications used on financial markets; uses IT solutions for specialist problems in finance and management processes.
  • Database Systems
    After completing studies of this specialization, a graduate has broad knowledge and skills in the field of database software, creation of databases and data storages. The IT engineer of this specialization knows the latest developments in modern data collection, data retrieval and sharing systems.
  • Computer Networks and Systems Security
    A graduate of this specialization is prepared to work on positions that require knowledge of designing and managing ICT networks, administration of dispersed operating systems, configuration of network devices and IT systems security management. The IT engineer of this specialization has practical skills related to the operation and configuration of ICT networks thanks to the training at Cisco Academy operating at KPU.
  • Image and Sound Engineering
    A graduate has broad knowledge and skills of using graphic and multimedia technologies to create advanced computer applications and multimedia presentations. The IT engineer of this specialization also has the knowledge and skills in the processing and transmission of audio signals in multimedia.
  • Software Engineering
    A graduate of Software Engineering has in-depth knowledge in the field of creating information systems, enabling independent solving of problems related to the production of effective software, including problem analysis as well as specification and implementation of solutions.

NURSING (BA and MA)

The aging of the society and the growing number of patients in need of specialized care contribute to the constantly growing demand for nurses in the labor market.
