About Erasmus+ programme

About the programme

Erasmus+ has started on 1 January 2014 and replaced previous programmes:  „Lifelong Learning” (and its sectoral programmes – Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius and Grundtvig), Jean Monnet action, „Youth in action” programme and five other programmes (inter alia Erasmus Mundus and Tempus). For the first time in the history of educational programmes of the European Union,  also initiatives connected with sport will be supported. The realisation of the programme is planned for seven years, until 2020.

Principles

Erasmus+ programme offers financial support for the institutions and organisations  acting in the fields of education and trainings, youth and sport in Europe. As a  response to the chllenges pointed out in  strategic documents of european politics (mainly the Europe 2020 strategy), the programme  shall contribute to the development of the skills of participants and to increasing their chances for employment, and also to modernisation of educational systems, trainings and to support young people.

Priorities

Erasmus+ programme in its priniples does not  differ markedly from the closed-down programme „Lifelong learning”.

In the new programme the biggest emphasis is placed on the formal and informal education which serves the development of the skills of students, teachers and staff and the improvement of their situation on the labour market.

Erasmus+  programme in practice enables foreign mobility – trips in educational purposes (for example for taking up studies,  to undergo a practice, trainings or to become a volunteer) of pupils, students, educational and youth workers and it supports establishing partnerships between the universities, higher and secondary schools, companies and non-profit organizations with the aim of strenghtening innovation and widening knowledge.

Within the programme the emphasis is laid on the importance of intersectoral cooperation  (various sectors of education, institutions on different levels and of various profiles) and on the strenghtening the effect of synergy between educational sectors and work environmnet.

The activities in the field of sport are mainly aimed at supporting initiatives concentrating on the fight againts violence, discrimination and doping  The financial aid can also be allocated for international sports non-profit events.

Fundamental data

The structure Erasmus+ programme has been simplified  comparing to the previous edition of programmes and includes three main types of activities:

  • Action 1: educational mobility (trips in educational purposes),
  • Action 2: cooperation for innovation and for the exchange of good practices,
  • Action 3: supporting reforms in the field of education.

And also 2 two types of „special” activities centrally managed: Jean Monnet and Sport.

Actions 1. and 2. are decentralised and they shall be conducted by National Agencies, whereas activities within the frames of action 3. shall be decentralized and managed by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) in Brussels.

Participants of the programme

In the new programme the approach to submitting aplications changes significantly– the programme offers some possibilities  for the individual beneficiaries , but only institutions or organisations may apply for funding of the projects.

The countries which can participate in Erasmus+ programme are listed below:

  • 28 member countries of European Union Unii Europejskiej,
  • EFTA/EOG countries: Island, Liechtenstein, Norway;
  • Candidates to the EU countries: Turkey, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

Some activities of Erasmus+ programme are also being opened for the organisations from partner countries.

Educational mobility

Students’ mobilities for the studies abroad and for practicies

Within the frames of action 1 Erasmus+ programme studens have an opportunity to go abroad  for studies or for the practice in the companies, organisations and institutions from the foreign countries participating in the pogramme.  Students may go abroad during any studies cycle (bachelor, master or doctorate) for the period no longer than 12 months. The minimum duration of stay for the studies is 3 months  and for the practice – 2 months. Students of  long-cycle master studies or equivalent (for example of medicine sudies) may study abroad even for 24 months.

Students’ mobilities for practicies and internships

In the Erasmus+ programme also Univerity graduates (bachelors, masters and doctors) may go for the practice or interniship abroad -  during one year after finishing their studies. The duration of stay abroad is added to the total time of mobility during the level of studies on which student was qualified for the mobility. The enrolment takes place during the last year of studies.

Guidelines for applying
to have the opportunity of going abroad within Erasmus+ programme one needs to:

  • be registered on bachelor, master (or equivalent) or doctorate studies;
  • be a student of the University which takes part in the programme (possess Erasmus Charter for Higher Education) and during a particular academic year carries out a student exhange and has an inter-institutional agreement with the receiving university.

Students shall apply for the mobility at their home University. Typically students enrolment takes place during the academic year preceeding the mobility. The amount of scholarship for the studies and practices varies depending on the destination county.

Memebers’ of University Staff Mobilities

Mobilities for giving out lectures at the partner universities

Academic teachers and specialists from the companies may benefit from this kind of mobility. The classes carried out by them always shall be an integral part of the current teaching programme of the host university.
The academics may visit foreign universities, with which their home universities (departments) have signed interinstitutional agreements. Both sending and hosting university need to have an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education  and to accept an individual working/training plan of the staff member.
The specialists from the companies, institutions or organisations might – for the invitation of the university – carry out classes for students. Polish universities may invite specialists from foreign enterprises and staff members from Polish companies may give a cycle of lectures at the universities abroad participating in the programme.

Mobilities of the member of university staff for training purposes

Member of university staff may visit foreign institutions, ex. companies, organisations, educational institutions, including universities, in order to improve skills  and qualifications needed at work,  to exchange experiences, to broaden the knowledge in particular subject (participation in training, seminars, workshops with the elements of training, work shadowing visit etc.). The duration of these mobilities may  be from two days to two months.*

University with Erasmus Charter

Kujawy and Pomorze University has participated in the Erasmus Programme since 2004. From 2007-2014 the University had an extended Erasmus Charter. Currently, the European Commission granted KPU Erasmus Charter allowing for participation in the Erasmus + Programme. Similary to the past years, the Charter allows for the exchange of students, as well as the administrative and teaching staff,  as a part of cooperation with the countries taking part in the programme.  Every term there are foreign students, teachers and administrative workers from abroad staying at the University. Students exchange has a great impact on promoting the culture of learning, giving it a European dimension as well as developing the consciousness of social and material advantages of learning.

Students of all faculties of Kujawy and Pomorze University (regardless of their citizenship) have the opportunity to study free of charge at one of our foreign partnership universities, as well as take part in a student training abroad. A scholarship of 300-600 Euro is granted for the trip. The opportunity to complete a part of studies or students training at prestigious universities and educational institutions abroad constitutes an indisputable advantage when searching for a job.

Erasmus students application procedure

 

 

 

 

1. When KPU partner University chooses its Erasmus students for exchange at KPU during autumn semester 2015/2016, the Erasmus Coordinator has to inform us about it between 15.04.2015 and 15.06.2015. After that date the students will receive information, whether they are accepted for the exchange, together with Acceptance letter necessary to obtain VISA (type D). 2. Then, according to the list of courses available at KPU for Erasmus students for a given semester, students prepare Learning Agreement, send us its scan and, when we confirm it is correct, send us this document (in 4 originals) together with filled-in Application form (in 3 originals) via traditional mail.

3. After receiving Acceptance Letter from KPU, every student has to fill in and send us back  via                e-mail Temporary Residence Form as well as your formal small-size photo in electronic form for administrative purposes.

4. The monthly fee for dormitory is about 360 PLN (it should be payed before the 10th of each month. The rule is that if you came after 15th you usually pay half). We suggest that you arrive about a few days before the semester starts. Please inform us about the exact date when you book your flight.

5. The exchange students have to buy an insurance, including the accident insurance, in their home country. In case when the students would like to visit a doctor on a regular basis and their insurance does not cover this option, they can buy additional health insurance in Poland, in order not to pay for every single visit. Also, the students should make sure at the insurance company what the reimbursement procedure is, namely, whether they have to pay for the visit at the doctor’s first and they will receive their reimbursement upon arrival to their home country, or otherwise.

6. Please, IN YOUR COUNTRY buy ISIC or Euro26 card (to receive discount in public transport and other services) together with necessary health insurence.

7. To obtain public transport card (Bydgoszcz City Card), please fill in the following application form upon your arrival to Bydgoszcz. You will receive an e-mail with information when you can collect the card (in the Customer Service Centre, with the seat in Bydgoszcz 85-844, at ul. Toruńska 174a, tel. (52) 582-27-07). The best option is to buy there a student ticket for 140 days (it will be sufficient for the whole period of your stay in Bydgoszcz) for 195 PLN (you will have to show your ISIC or Euro26 card).

8. Please also remember that you may need some money in Polish currency for the tickets to Bydgoszcz / taxi at the airport etc.

9. Remember that all your classes will be in English – take necessary dictionaries as you would be expected to work on the language all the time. List of subjects available for exchange students-spring semester academic year 2016/2017.

 

Erasmus Policy Statement

Kujawy and Pomorze University in Bydgoszcz was founded in 2000 and is one of the biggest non-public universities in Poland. Currently we offer the following majors: law, pedagogy, administration, philology (English, Spanish, Russian and German), geodesy and cartography, construction, information technology, economics, international relations, journalism and social communication, social work.

Within over 14 years, the university has gained the reputation of solid and friendly for students thanks to the care of high quality of education. Our activities result from the priorities such as improving the quality and effectiveness of education and vocational training as a contribution towards creating economically competetive and socially coherent European Community.  In its principles the University is oriented to serving other people. We constantly broaden the scope of our didactic offer by introducing new fields of studies and specializations which are adapted to educational needs and the labour market forecasts. Taking into consideration the fact that education plays the crucial role in the creation of integrated society we strive to prevent discriminiation and marginalization of the representatives of  the groups which are not in favour of in the society.

KPU has been cooperating with many universities in Poland and several dozen abroad, for example in Great Britain, Norway, Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Portugal, Latvia, Greece, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China and Zambia. The cooperation with foreign universities and companies has become a source of opportunities for transfer of innovations facilitating modernization of the studies programmes.

Internationalisation is among the strategic priorities in the development plans of our University. Internationalisation is not only the exchange of experiences within the framework of agreements with foreign partners but also promotion of foreign languages learning, introduction of international content into curricula, joint education with foreign universities and many other activities, through which education receives transnational dimension.

Particularly important element of internationalisation process is participation in the Erasmus Programme, as it facilitates the transfer of good practices and innovations. Systematic realization of mobility of academic teachers and students who become carriers of reliable solutions has contributed to modifaction of curricula content and implementation of new standards adapted to globalized labour market.

Fundamental aims of KPU international cooperation focus around: modernization of the university structure, based on the implementation of effective solutions, possible thanks to the exchange of experiences with foreign partners; continous improvement of the education quality; promotion of mobility as one of the fixed elements of professional development of staff and students; development of intercultural dialogue, creation of strategic partnerships and networks, which facilitate the realization of advanced works and exchange of views on the issues essential to further development of higher education; improvement of foreign language skills of the students as well as academic and administrative staff; development of joint studies programmes delivered in English and enhancement of cooperation with neighbouring and Asian countries. We aim to contantly improve the quality and effectiveness of education systems and their adjustment to occupational needs.

The important element of the educational process at our University is the formation and enhancement of intercultural competences among students and employees. Since academic year 2013/2014 we are going to implement modular education. The students may broaden their knowledge during extra classes within the frames of the offered modules. Modules on, for example, intercultural education, European culture canon, intercultural workshops ensure long-term formation of this competence, essential in the increasingly globalised society. The courses will be delivered in Polish, English, Russian, French or Italian, providing the opportunity for Polish and foreign students to study together.  Supporting the intercultural dialogue, dissemination and transfer of good practices, formation of social awareness in this respect ensure continuous creation of diversified yet integrated society model.

One of the principles of the University mission is development of intercultural dialogue. Freqently we organize intercultural events which strenghten dialogue and creation of multicultural yet intergrated society model. Annual international conference “One world – many cultures” creats a possibility to find new common areas of understanding and to realize dialogue between people and religions. We plan to spread and develop this initiative through creation of a network of universities from all over the world and  wirtual platform of cooperation promoting intercultural dialogue, mobility and internationalisation of higher education.
